Greater Virginia Peninsula Homelessness Consortium

​The Greater Virginia Peninsula Homelessness Consortium (GVPHC) is a regional body comprised of six separate political jurisdictions: Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson, Williamsburg, James City County, and York County. This vigorous and collaborative entity is open to any and all agencies, programs, and individuals interested in working to prevent homelessness on the Virginia Peninsula. 
Virginia Peninsula Mayors and Chairs Commission on Homelessness (COH)
The Commission on Homelessness was established by the Virginia Peninsula Mayors and Chairs to oversee a collaborative approach to develop the 10-Year Regional Plan to End Homelessness.

Mission

The mission of the GVPHC is to develop, sustain, and coordinate a comprehensive Continuum of Care for citizens at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness.

Membership

Members in this consortium can be individuals or representatives from non - profits agencies, human services agencies, businesses, faith organizations, public agencies, or individuals from the community at-large who are committed to carrying out the mission of the consortium.  Membership in this consortium will be updated continuously through an open registration process.

The GVPHC General Membership meets on a bi annually (April and September). Meetings are open to the public. 
  • The membership is responsible for the nomination and election of consortium officers, make final decisions to accept or reject requests for homeless services program funding, review committee reports, and participate in presentations and trainings provided by non-profit and government agencies.
